At the front of each book, teachers reproduce pages that illustrate how to draw each of the 150 objects from the drawing book. (Each page from the back of the drawing book includes four step by step drawing activities.) At the back of each student book, teachers include the vocabulary charts. The books can then be placed at centers, used as a whole class activity, or by students when they are finished with their other work. Report folders work well to bind the pages into books. When used independently, each student selects and draws a picture, labels the picture and the parts of the picture, and then uses adjectives, verbs, and adverbs from the charts along with their own words to describe each drawing and name actions that it might

perform. The students then use the

noun phrases and verb phrases from

their drawings to write sentences

and stories about their pictures.
